FAQs

How do we get access to the house?
There is a key box on the side of the terrace (nearest the fence). You will be advised of the code before your arrival. Once inside there are spare keys hanging in the kitchen and keys for the conservatory doors are kept in a pot in the conservatory.

Is there a caretaker?
Yes. Contact details for the caretaker and emergency numbers for the owners are provided on site.

Can I bring a dog?
One well-behaved dog is usually permitted. Please advise by email before booking. Visitors are asked to keep dogs downstairs and are expected to clean up after their dogs. There are Summer daytime restrictions on doggie access to Polzeath beach but Daymer and Lundy Bay and most other beaches are unrestricted. There is a new footpath through scrub two minutes from the front door which is convenient for early morning outings.

Do you have wifi?

Yes and the wifi code is provided on site.

What size are the beds?
All the beds are standard length (including the bunks/ trundle for children) and pillows and duvets are provided. The second floor penthouse and the first floor master bedroom have super king beds, (6' wide). Bedrooms two and three may be configured as 3' twins or king size doubles, if you reconfigure these rooms, please return the beds to their original set up at the end of your holiday.

What are the arrangements for linen?

To keep guest costs down, bed linen, beach and bath towels are not provided except by special arrangement, although bath mats, hand towels and tea towels are provided. For an additional charge, our cleaner offers a linen service by arrangement directly with guests, which can include a bed making service. Please ask for her contact details.

What about a washing machine?
There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room (off the kitchen). Guests should use the outside clothes airer on fine days. There is limited internal drying space.

Is there any baby equipment?
There is a folding travel cot & mattress in the bunks room. Guests use this at their own risk and must be satisfied it is suitable for

their proposed use. Please bring your own cot sheets. There is a high chair which, if not visible in the kitchen or conservatory, may be in the garden shed.

Is there a microwave?
Yes there is a microwave under the island in the kitchen.

Smoking

Sea Winds has a No Smoking indoors policy.

What about surfing equipment?
There are many surfboard/wetsuit hire shops in Polzeath for guests to hire from. We do keep some bodyboards in the storage area under the terrace. Guests are welcome to use these at their own risk on the basis that only any damage (or loss) needs to be paid for. Note that the stand up surf boards and paddle boards stored there are privately owned and NOT available for guest use.

Is there an outside shower?
Yes. A hot shower is provided on the kitchen side of the house as well as an outside tap. Guests are asked to use these facilities to clean sandy feet and to rinse wet suits before hanging them on the outside clothes airer. While indoor showers may be more enticing, guests are asked to avoid bringing too much sand into the house and NOT to use indoor showers when covered in sand.

Is there a BBQ?
There is a BBQ which is normally stored in the storage area under the terrace. Guests are welcome to use this but are asked to leave it in the condition in which they would wish to find it (and to notify us if it has not been cleaned by the previous user). The cleaner's duties do not extend to the outside area.

What are the best places to visit apart from the beaches?
Polzeath is well placed for trips along the coast, from St Ives to the (South)West or Tintagel to the (North) East. Inland there are many attractions: the most famous of the National Trust properties is Lanhydrock (near Bodmin) but see also the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and a number of lovely gardens on the South Coast. More locally (and especially fun for children) there is an outdoor play area/small farm at Trevathan Farm Shop (St Endellion) and less than half a mile away, there is  a children's play area and sensory garden at the National Trust tea room at Pentire.
If it is rainy, don't despair: Very often the weather changes many times during the course of one day in coastal Cornwall. Fortunately, Sea Winds has lots of downstairs living space (and a large TV and games cupboard), but pack waterproofs so that you can enjoy outdoor trips in all weathers. Wadebridge has a small multiplex cinema and indoor swimming pool.
